Second World War is an important event in history that has affected almost all of the countries of the world. It is also knows as World War || and was a global war. This war lasted from 1939 till 1945 and was the most widespread war in world history. Almost 30 countries were directly involved in this war dividing in to two major power called Allies and Axis. It is estimated that more than 100 million people were involved in this war. This devastating was resulted the 50 million to 85 million fatalities as became the deadliest conflict in human history.
The war started on September first 1939 with the event when Germany invaded Poland. Just after 2 days Britain and France declared war on Germany. There are many political reasons that led the World War || but the most prominent reason was when Hitler invaded Poland, the conflict arose. United States, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, France, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Greece etc. were the main power of the Allies part while Germany, Japan, Italy, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria were the main power for the Axis.
This war involved Europe, Asia, Africa, Russia and most part of the world and because of the war the economy collapsed, industrialization fell, people dies in great number, political aspect changed as an effect of the war and lots of nation had to reform their country. First nuclear bomb was used in this war and both parties invented and improved the war weapons. Most of the European countries had to suffer a severe economic crisis as the aftermath of the war, United Kingdom had to abandon many of its colonial countries, new political alliance had to form among nations.
This is in my opinion is the largest event in human history that shaped the world. The world today we see could have been different (politically and geographically) if the war would have produced a different result.
No other even in history has affected the world as much as this war did.

First time for China to host the Olympic Games, boost the development of economy and tourism, enhance the national image
Where and when it happened
A historical event that has a great influence on my country is the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. This event was held in my country's capital city Beijing in August 2008. The opening ceremony took place on August 8, while the whole event ended on August 24.
How you knew it
Actually, early in 2001, when I was in primary school, I got to know that Beijing was going to host the Olympic Games, because on July 13 that year, China won the bids. I remember that when I watched the news on TV, I felt extremely excited and proud of my country.
What happened
When it came to 2008, just like most of Chinese people, I paid close attention to the event by watching live broadcast of the sports games on TV. To provide venues for the sports matches, several stadiums with unique design were built, such as the Beijing National Stadium, also called the Bird's Nest, as well as the National Aquatics Center, also named Water Cube. Eventually, Chinese athletes won 51 medals and 100 medals altogether, leading all the other countries.
How you feel about this event
Although it has been nearly nine years since then, in my view, it's still one of the most meaningful events, because it was the first time for China to host the Olympic Games. Not only did it successfully boost the development of economy and tourism, it also enhanced the national image of my country.

The prize winner is a well-known Chinese novelist. His full name is Guan Moye, and Mo Yan is his pen name which literally means 'don't speak'. The prize was given to one of his works named 'Red Sorghum'.
How you knew it
I remember this news was broadcasted through all kinds of media that year, and I watched it on TV. Actually, I wasn't very familiar with the writer but had seen a film based on his novel. Around twenty years ago, the film was directed by the famous Chinese director Zhang Yimou and won awards in several international film festivals.
What happened
After Mo Yan won the prize, he was put under the spotlight and was invited to many interviews. In December that year, Mo Yan delivered his Nobel Lecture in Sweden. He called himself as a storyteller and said he would keep on writing to tell even better stories. He is good at writing stories based on rural life due to his personal experience.
How you feel about this event
In short, this event has a great significance for my country because it not only shows our achievement in the literature field but also represents China's first Nobel Price. Our dream of winning the prize has finally come true.
Ping-pong Democracy
Exchange of table tennis players between China and the US
Bridge built for Sino-US relations
Where and when it happened
I'd like to describe an important event in the early 1970s. It is named Ping-pong Democracy, which means the exchange of table tennis players between China and the US.
How you knew it
When I was in high school, I learned this event in a history class. The teacher introduced the background and explained the details of this event to us, so I still remember it clearly now.
What happened
This event began in April 1971 when nine American players and four officials came to China and spent about one week in Beijing playing fun matches. During that period, they also visited some famous tourist resorts like the Great Wall and the Summer Palace, as well as watching a ballet performance in the theater. After the players returned to the US, they described China as a beautiful country, and said they made many Chinese friends. This event paved the way for President Nixon's visit to Beijing in 1972, so as to build a bridge for Sino-US relations.
How you feel about this event
I think this event is significant because the Chinese and American governments used their wisdom to deal with a difficult foreign affair issue and break the stalemate through an unusual but effective method. During the event, China's sporting spirit was reflected by the slogan - 'friendship first, competition second.

1. 事件發(fā)生的背景(Why it happened);
2. 事件發(fā)生前的情況和狀態(tài)(Prepare for it);
3. 事件發(fā)生的時(shí)間、地點(diǎn)、人物(When/where/who);
4. 事件的具體內(nèi)容(What the people did in the event);
5. 一至兩個(gè)亮點(diǎn)的細(xì)節(jié)描述(What impressed you most);
6. 感受(How do you feel about it 或 What you learned from it);
事件經(jīng)歷類話題的答題重點(diǎn)依然要放在最后一個(gè)問題上(一般來說最后一個(gè)問題會(huì)問 why it happened 或 how do you feel about it),多數(shù)考生也基本可以回答到 3 和 4,但容易忽略的是細(xì)節(jié)描述和事情發(fā)生前的一些鋪墊,也就是說答題過于平淡,缺少亮點(diǎn)。
Describe a time you experienced a long-time traffic jam.
You should say:
when and where it happened;
how long you were in the traffic jam;
what you did to try to get out of the problem situation;
and explain how you felt about that traffic jam.
Several weeks ago, I was on a bus to my workplace, as usual. But I didn't expect that the bus would get stuck right in the middle of a bridge. A car got rear-ended by another one, the two drivers were quarreling ferociously, they almost broke into a fight at some point. The traffic police were there, but there was nothing they could do. And all the cars and buses where just stuck there, with drivers honking and passengers cursing. It was totally chaotic.
Since I'm just a passenger, I could do nothing about the problem. But if I were the traffic policeman, I would stop those two drivers with forces, and towed away their cars, so that the rest of us could get pass. About this traffic congestion, I felt completely irritated. My work begins sharply at nine o'clock, but it was already eight forty, and there were still six stops to go. I could never make it on time. I tried to tell myself to calm down and read some news reports on my cellphone, but I was distracted and disgusted by the foul language of those two angry drivers, and the complains of other passengers around me. And what upset me even more was that the traffic policeman was just writing stuff on his notebook, without doing anything practical. And I felt sorry for those two drivers. Had they acted more rationally, they wouldn't have caused such a scene. But I guess they would never know that until they saw their pictures on the front page the next day. That traffic jam lasted for about an hour, and it utterly ruined my day.
